Hi, I'm Bryce. I've spent my life fishing in the Pacific Northwest. I eventually picked up 3D printing as an additional hobby. My years of fishing experience gave me ideas that I was never able to put into action before. Now, thanks to 3D printing, I am beginning to bring some of those ideas to life.The first is the Gyro Hootchie, a durable, flexible TPU hootchie designed to rotate as it pulls through the water. I spent months developing it through 3D design, trial and error, until I had the version you see now.I first tested the Gyro Hootchie on sockeye at Baker Lake. During a five-day trip in July 2025, I fished it side by side with a traditional hootchie and it produced about three fish for every one caught on the traditional setup.Since then, I’ve refined the design further with dyed colors for longer-lasting, bolder color. A larger version is now available, aimed at salmon fishing in Puget Sound.The gyro hootchie is designed and made to be much more durable than a standard hootchie. To test this durability, I ran the same baitfish pattern gyro hootchie for about a month in Puget Sound, landing over 100 adult salmon on one individual lure. The lure still looks and functions as new as the day it came off the printer.Other designs are also in development.So far I have tested the large orange Gyro Hootchie at the Tulalip Bubble and caught chinook on it. The Gyro Hootchie getting the most use in Puget Sound right now is the baitfish pattern. I tested it for the first time in July 2026, and as of August 27, 2026, it's total adult salmon catch has surpassed 100.As of August 2 2026, All Gyro Hootchie colors and sizes are now available.
